Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar has undertaken a significant diplomatic mission to deepen the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Kuwait. During a meeting with Kuwait Crown Prince Sheikh Meshal Al Jaber Al Sabah, both leaders expressed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.

PM Kakar, fresh from his successful visit to the United Arab Emirates, arrived in Kuwait to engage in talks with the Gulf state’s top leadership. The discussions, held at Kuwait’s Bayan Palace, focused on the multifaceted collaboration between the two nations.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) issued a statement highlighting Kakar’s emphasis on the importance Pakistan places on its relationship with Kuwait. He reiterated the nation’s eagerness to expand cooperation across various sectors, including trade, energy, information technology, labor, minerals, and investments.

The PM expressed satisfaction with the ongoing cooperation at international forums, acknowledging Kuwait’s efforts in recruiting Pakistani manpower, particularly in health, security, and infrastructure. The Kuwait Crown Prince reciprocated the sentiment, expressing his leadership’s desire to further deepen and broaden bilateral relations with Pakistan.

PM Kakar was also scheduled to meet his Kuwaiti counterpart, Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad. However, due to a sudden health emergency, the Emir was admitted to the hospital, and the status of the meeting remains uncertain.

Earlier, upon Kakar’s arrival at the Bayan Palace, Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Talal Khaled Al-Ahmad received him, marking the occasion with a guard of honor and the playing of both countries’ national anthems.

The caretaker PM is accompanied by a high-profile delegation, including caretaker Finance Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, Energy Minister Muhammad Ali, Commerce counterpart Gohar Ejaz, and Law Minister Ahmad Irfan Aslam. Interim Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi is also part of the delegation.

In a parallel diplomatic effort, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, accompanied by a delegation including interim Law Minister Ahmad Irfan Aslam and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Kuwait Malik Mohammad Farooq, met with the Kuwait Crown Prince. The meeting coincided with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Kuwait.

PM Kakar’s visit to Kuwait follows his trip to the UAE, where significant MoUs related to investment cooperation were inked, unlocking the potential for “multi-billion dollars” in funding from the Middle Eastern state. This diplomatic endeavor underscores Pakistan’s commitment to fostering economic and strategic partnerships in the Gulf region.
