Kuwait has launched a national campaign set to begin on Friday and run for a month to raise donations aimed at assisting citizens in debt clearance. This initiative will be led by the Ministry of Social Affairs in cooperation with charitable societies. Under this campaign, donations are to be channeled towards those Kuwaiti citizens who are unable to pay their debts owing to non-criminal obligations. Each of the beneficiaries is restricted to a repayment limit of KD20,000 equal to around $64,892 with the assurance that a maximum number of people shall be covered under it.
The campaign is based on the state’s deterministic policy to support its citizens when they are on the edge of crisis. This organized mechanism ensures genuine recipients receive aid with clear controls and transparency. Hence, debts due to illegal transactions or import telecommunication companies and informal financing entities cut off from assistance.
An e-system managed by the ministry will supervise the campaign in order to monitor donations collection and distribution further which will also ensure adherence to the set standards. Thus, all necessary beneficiaries are to provide official documents confirming their inability to settle debts while contributions shall be forwarded to the relevant authorities such as the Civil Enforcement Department of the Ministry of Justice.
