Jordan’s King Sees Off Abu Dhabi Crown Prince at End of Visit

The Emirati delegation completed its working visit to Jordan and bid farewell to the Emirati delegation after the sector reached a milestone in the development of the Kingdom of Jordan’s infrastructure.

Sheikh Khaled departed Aqaba’s King Hussein International Airport to attend the ground breaking ceremony for Aqaba – Al-Shidiyeh – Maan Railway Project. King Abdullah II led the bidding, along with high-ranking government dignitaries in Jordan.

The railway project will be one of the major transportation projects in Jordan and will contribute to the improvement of the efficiency of freight transport for mining products, the reduction of transportation costs and boost the competitiveness of Jordanian products. It also seeks to strengthen its place as a regional logistics and transportation hub.

The Crown Prince’s visit led to further details on economic and infrastructure cooperation between Abu Dhabi and Amman, notably the railway project, which is a key element of their cooperation.

Also, the farewell included a ritualistic aspect where the Royal Jordanian Air Force conducted an escort to the post-departure of Sheikh Khaled Air Force.

The visit is on the eve of both sides advancing projects that seek to enhance connectivity, trade and investment. The railway project in Aqaba is seen as having the potential to boost Jordan’s exports and as playing a regional logistics role.

During her meeting with Sheikh Khaled, she discussed various aspects of cooperation with respect to infrastructure and the next phase of economic ties between the UAE and Jordan.
