The QatarDebate Centre, the Oman Debate Centre and the Omani Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth have collaborated to host the inaugural ‘Oasis of Dialogue’ forum in Oman. Scheduled for Jan 5 to 9, the event has brought together 50 youngsters from the GCC states.
Part of the ongoing Oasis of Dialogue series initiated by the QatarDebate Centre, the forum is intended to provide a platform for young minds to engage in rigorous discussions on the themes of identity and tourism in the massive and ever-evolving Gulf region.
‘Oasis of Dialogue’ forum helping build bridges of communication
The pioneering event serves a dual purpose: stimulating productive debate and fostering a culture of public dialogue among the Gulf youth. It is a common platform that builds bridges of communication between Qatari and Omani youth, and the Gulf in general.
The forum promises to delve into a variety of topics, from tourism, sports and entertainment to cultural tourism, and their impact on the Gulf society’s identity. The discussions assume added value in view of the prevailing trends of globalisation and localisation.
Furthermore, the inaugural initiative also focuses on addressing the development of the tourism sector, its integration with other sectors, and the strategic positioning of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries as a winter tourist destination.
Bolstering cultural and scientific bond between Qatar and Oman
The event is particularly important owing to its attempt to bridge the gap between young participants and decision-makers. It encourages the youth to voice their opinions and contribute actively to the broader discourse.
In September 2023, the QatarDebate Centre and its Omani counterpart signed a memorandum of understanding, seeking to bolster the cultural and scientific bond between the two countries through numerous events and tournaments.
