Oman has been named the most affordable country to live in the Gulf Cooperative Council (GCC) countries- according to the 2025 Cost of Living Index by Numbeo. Oman continues to provide a friendly lifestyle with inexpensive daily expenses and inexpensive rental fees.
The average cost of living per month in Oman for a family of four (excluding rent) is around Dh9,597.6,while for a single person is only Dh2,773.2. Overall monthly costs of living in Oman compared to UAE is 26.5%, with rent is almost 72% less.
The rankings of the other GCC countries are as follows:
- Bahrain is second. Monthly costs in Manama are around Dh10,496.8 for a family with rent being almost 65% less than Dubai.
- Kuwait is third, while it may not be considered as the lifestyle of the wealthy, it’s cost of living is of 27% less than Dubai.
- Doha, Qatar is fourth with rental costs being about 38% cheaper than in Dubai.
- Saudi Arabia is fifth. Monthly costs are about 19.9% cheaper in Riyadh compared to Dubai, and rent is over 55% less.
UAE is the cost of living is the highest. In Dubai, the monthly cost for a family is around Dh14,765 in comparison to Dh4,242.5 for a single person. Abu Dhabi is a little cheaper, but still more expensive than the other Gulf capitals.
