Fraternal relations, MoUs, regional developments: Your guide to Sultan of Oman's key state visit to UAE

HM Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, Sultan of Oman, arrived on Monday on a state visit to the UAE, his second home. Emirati leader HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed received his brother and the accompanying delegation upon their arrival at the Presidential Airport.

Landmarks and streets across Abu Dhabi were decorated with Omani flags and displayed messages welcoming the Sultan of Oman and celebrating his visit to the country. His Highness also hosted an official reception ceremony to mark the high-profile trip of His Majesty.

The leaders have discussed strengthening of fraternal relations and cooperation between the UAE and Oman to serve mutual interests and meet the aspirations of their citizens for development and prosperity, as per media reports.

Talks cover regional and international issues

Sheikh Mohamed and Sultan Haitham reviewed relations, especially in the economic, trade and investment areas, which have seen significant advancement in recent years in a way that serves developmental priorities and enhances the prosperity of both countries.

The discussions at Qasr Al Watan in the capital also included regional and international issues of common interest. Both sides discussed developments in the Middle East and efforts to contain tensions and prevent escalation.

The meeting also addressed joint Gulf action in light of the challenges the region is encountering and highlighted its role in achieving the mutual interests of GCC countries and their citizens while bolstering regional security and stability.

UAE and Oman sign notable MoUs, agreements

Besides the notable discussions, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and Sultan Haitham bin Tariq also noted the announcement of several memoranda of understanding and key agreements aimed at strengthening bilateral relations to achieve further development and prosperity.

The agreements and memoranda announced cover numerous areas, such as investment, technology, railways, education, clean energy and sustainability. Several Sheikhs, ministers and high-ranking officials, besides the Omani delegation, attended the announcement.

Sultan Haitham at Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

On Tuesday, the Sultan of Oman visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in the UAE capital as part of his state visit. HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, accompanied His Majesty.

Sultan Haitham and his accompanying delegation visited the tomb of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan, recalling his valuable legacy in promoting dialogue, understanding and coexistence among different people and cultures across the globe.
