Field hospital and aid to Gaza: UAE continues alleviating sufferings of Palestinians

The UAE has announced the dispatch of another aid shipment to the Gaza Strip, carrying 1,166 tonnes of urgent essential food supplies onboard. The dispatch comes approximately a couple of weeks after the previous consignment.

The latest aid supply involved the US Agency for International Development, the US, Cyprus, the UN, and several international donors, including the EU. The ship departed from Larnaca Port in Cyprus to the Port of Ashdod and entered the Gaza Strip via the Beit Hanoun crossing.

The UAE continues to collaborate with international partners to intensify all efforts to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid, its arrival and distribution through all available means, and to contribute to alleviating the critical humanitarian conditions faced by Gazans.

UAE’s deepening efforts to find solution to Gaza crisis

Dispatching relief aid through land, sea and air demonstrates the UAE’s historic and unflinching commitment to the Palestinians. The Gulf state has also been stressing the need for intensified diplomatic efforts to find a quick, peaceful and lasting solution to the conflict.

The brutal Israel-Hamas conflict erupted on October 7 as Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israeli cities, killing some 1,200 people and taking several others hostages. The Israeli military’s retaliatory strikes, on the other hand, have so far claimed over 36,200 lives.

Besides the humanitarian aid, the UAE field hospital in Gaza continues to provide its medical services to the enclave’s residents amidst the dire circumstances that the Palestinian people are experiencing, especially in the southern city of Rafah.

An orthopaedic surgery consultant at the UAE hospital in Rafah noted that the facility – part of Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 – continues to receive the injured, both children and adults. He confirmed that surgeries are being conducted every day.

The medical team has carried out several operations as the fighting rages on, including a metal implant removal and an endoscopy on an inflamed wound for a patient suffering from violence-caused fractures, eventually helping save his limbs from amputation.

Launched by UAE President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 provides humanitarian assistance to displaced people in the Gaza Strip through food parcels, children’s and women’s parcels, tents, vegetables and water.
