The best time to have abandoned the idea of a cage match between Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, the force behind Meta, would have been the very moment it was first suggested. The second optimal time is right now!

Thankfully, Zuckerberg, 39, has decided life is too short to fuel the childishness any longer. By turning down his fellow billionaire’s latest offer, he is giving Musk and his adoring fans a chance to put an end to the chaotic drama surrounding their potential cage match.

A Practice Fight In Zuckerberg’s Backyard

“I think we can all agree Elon isn’t serious and it’s time to move on,” the Meta founder wrote on his newest platform, Threads, on Sunday. “If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me.”

The post came after a week or so in which Musk tried to find his way out of another fine mess he seems to have brought himself into. First, he started revealing details about the fight that Zuckerberg said he hadn’t been consulted on, such as a possible location for the match.

Then the Tesla CEO said he would be unavailable for some time owing to an injury uncovered by an MRI. Finally, according to posts from his biographer on X, previously known as Twitter, Musk suggested a practice fight in Zuckerberg’s backyard. But that was unlikely to happen.

Ample Other Things To Pay Attention To

This childishness has gone on for quite a long time now. Frankly, there are ample other things the two billionaires – worth a combined $334 billion, as of Sunday – can turn their attention to. Meta is running sound but its CEO’s reputation still relies on the success of his Metaverse vision.

On the other hand, Musk is currently engaged in a chaotic rebranding of Twitter into X. At his electric carmaker Tesla, he must address the consequences of an abrupt departure of the chief financial officer. It’s time the world stopped playing along.
