Easter indeed brought some fortune and hope to the Ukraine and Russia war field as both the countries exchanged hundreds of Prisoners of War on Wednesday. This exchange stands out to be one of the largest prisoner exchanges in the three years of Russia’s invasion. The exchange was mediated with the efforts and persuasion of the authorities from the United Arab Emirates, a huge step towards peaceful progress at the crucial time of the unfortunate war.
“The warriors of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard of Ukraine, the State Special Transport Service, and the border guards. They defended Mariupol and other directions in the Donetsk, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Luhansk regions” posted Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, who already proposed an “all-for-all” prisoners of war exchange.
President Zelensky earlier noted that releasing all prisoners of war and captured civilians would be an important step towards peace and also a walk towards building trust between the two countries.
