Dubai is gearing up to walk its way to a healthier future – literally. Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed has unveiled a new and exciting fitness initiative called Dubai Mallathon, where popular shopping malls will turn into walking and running tracks in the early morning hours.
How does it work?
From August 1 to 31, seven of Dubai’s premier malls will open to the public early, from 7:00 to 10:00 am, and allow people to walk, jog, and generally get fit. Malls like Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Mirdif, and Dubai Hills Mall will become indoor fitness areas for the full month.
This fun, community-minded fitness initiative is free and open to the public everyone is welcome! Young people, seniors, families, children, and mall staff can all come and join in on the fun.
Why Malls?
Dubai summers are extremely hot, so exercising outside can be very difficult. Malls provide large, air-conditioned spaces where people can walk without worrying about the heat, all while being indoors. Why not walk, reach, and sweat in comfort instead of just shopping?
