From today, access to several popular public beaches in Dubai is limited to “families only,” with some restrictions, following a formal announcement by Dubai Municipality.
The decision is part of several measures being taken by the government ahead of the week-long holiday, as thousands of residents and worshippers get ready to go out. The temporary structure is meant to provide safety and organization for families during one of the most hectic seasons of the year, officials say.
Which Dubai Beaches Are Restricted to Families Only?
Excluding children has been extended to a number of the busiest public beaches in Dubai. The restricted areas are the beaches at Jumeirah 1, Jumeirah 2, Jumeirah 3 and the areas set aside for night spots on Dubai’s beaches.
Also the operational restrictions Umm Suqeim Beach 1 and 2. Furthermore, the Eid framework has been extended to Al Mamzar Beach areas such as Khor Al Mamzar Beach.
Why Dubai Introduced the New Eid Beach Rules?
The goal is to “control overcrowding while ensuring the comfort and safety of the public and families throughout the long holiday weekend,” Dubai Municipality states. There is usually a spike in numbers of visitors in the evenings and post-sunset times on beaches throughout the emirate during Eid breaks.

However, Dubai’s night swimming beaches are open during Eid for activities under specific conditions with strict safety supervision. Advanced lighting technologies are used in designated night swimming areas at Jumeirah 2 and Umm Suqeim 1 while lifeguards are specially trained for after dark activities.
Swim is limited to inside lighted swimming areas. Disturbing waters at regular beaches and going against the time frame is strictly against regulations.
Lifeguard Warnings Must Be Followed
Resort visitors are warned to obey all lifeguards and safety orders to all beach visitors. Red flags, rough and rude sea warnings must be followed at once and no swimming shall take place during this time.
Failure to observe safety rules may be dangerous, especially with emergencies or during manoeuvre periods in which the sea state changes or there is an overcrowding situation, officials say.

Fines for Violating Dubai Beach Rules
Dubai’s authorities have said that pricey fines may be levied against anyone failing to comply with the laws that govern public beach safety. The penalties are subject to change under Dubai’s new Public Safety Law, which allows for a fine of AED 500 and up to AED 1 million based on the severity of the offence.
Penalties may be doubled if there are multiple violations in a one year period. DHS is keeping its vigilance during the Eid holidays.
Increased Monitoring During Eid Holidays
During the festive season, Dubai Municipality and beach management teams have largely been fed on budgets, with operations ramped up. Extra staff, cleaning crews and emergency response teams have been deployed at the main beaches to help with the control of visitors.
