Doha to Serve as Host for Nobel Sustainability Awards in 2026
In a high profile advancement toward environmental progress, Doha, Qatar has been selected as the host for the 2026 Nobel Sustainability Awards. The Nobel Sustainability Trust made the announcement on May 19th at a special event held at the historic Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Miami.
The 2025 awards gala will take place at the wonderful Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Miami, honoring innovative accomplishments relating to biodiversity, sustainable cities and climate leadership. At the event, a missive from Qatar’s Minister of Municipality announced Doha as the next host of the awards, underscoring the importance of the growing engagement of the Middle East in global sustainability.
Qatar has been pushing forward its green goals through its Ministry of Municipality. Between being the first environmentally responsible FIFA World Cup, and its plans for smart cities and green energy projects, Qatar expects to yield 20% of its energy by any means by 2030.
The Nobel Sustainability Awards celebrate global leadership, research, and institutions dedicated to planet improvement through sustainability practices. International juries, under the guidance of the Technical University of Munich, choose the recipients of the awards. Hosting key officials from South Florida, including Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and other top leaders was an indication of a strong U.S. commitment to the importance of sustainability. The Nobel Sustainability Trust, founded by the Nobel family, has continued its mission of encouraging eco-friendly innovation and global collaboration for a greener planet.
