uae launches cloudix to improve rainfall across the country

The UAE is launching a month-long campaign to make clouds rain more by using a process called cloud seeding. Cloud seeding involves adding tiny particles to clouds to encourage them to release more rain.

The UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology is teaming up with a US company called Stratton Park Engineering for this project.

They’ll use special aircraft with advanced instruments to gather important data about the effectiveness of different cloud-seeding methods.

The goal is to improve the technology that helps increase rainfall in the UAE, which has a dry climate.

The campaign, called Cloudix, is like a big experiment. They’ll test how well different cloud-seeding methods work, especially when combined with electric charges.

They’ll fly planes with sensors over clouds to gather information and see which methods make the clouds produce more rain. This data will help scientists and researchers understand how to make cloud seeding better.

The National Centre of Meteorology has said, “A group of researchers and pilots will cross-examine the performance of different cloud seeding materials with and without electric charges.”

The UAE has been using cloud seeding for years to make more rain. In dry places like the UAE, getting more rain is important for things like farming and having enough water. Cloud seeding is like giving clouds a little nudge to release rain, and it’s a bit like magic in the sky.

The president of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) and director general of NCM, Dr Abdulla Al Mandous said, “This research campaign demonstrates NCM’s active role in promoting innovative research in areas related to national priorities including water security.”

He further said, “At NCM, we are committed to empowering the local talent and ensuring their active engagement in the development of new technologies that increase rainfall for the benefit of future generations at risk of water shortage.”

Cloudix is an essential step in improving this technology and making sure it’s effective. It’s also great for the environment, as more rain means better water supply and helps with things like growing crops.

The UAE is known for using innovative methods to deal with its dry climate, and this cloud seeding campaign is one of those creative solutions.

The research and data they collect will help them understand how to use cloud seeding even more effectively in the future.

This initiative can be helpful in finding new ways to address water shortage concerns and use science to benefit the environment and people’s lives.
