From rolling sand dunes to rugged mountains, the United Arab Emirates has more to offer than just towering skyscrapers. So fellow adventurers, get ready. Lace up your hiking boots and put on your sun hats, be sure to rub in that suntan lotion as well, and don’t forget to grab that water bottle to hike in the UAE.
Let’s immerse ourselves in the breathtaking landscapes of the UAE:
Hatta Mountain Trails
This is a popular spot for families and friends. Hatta Mountain Trails is also Dubai’s largest national park, and home to several hiking trails where adventure seekers can explore the Hajar Mountains. The varying trails – sharp rocks and sandy surfaces – provide a sense of thrill and satisfaction to walk through. These trails are perfect to explore as a day trip itinerary.
Al Wurayah Waterfalls Trail
Who would have thought one can find waterfalls in a desert! The Al Wurayah Waterfalls trail in Fujairah is a hidden oasis that offers a unique hiking experience. The trail winds through wadis and rocky terrain, leading you to a series of stunning natural pools and cascading waterfalls. It’s a heavenly sanctuary and a fantastic escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Ain Al Sheria
This is among the UAE’s most colorful and geological hikes in northwest Fujairah. Hikers can see the stunning rock formations, and a boulder with ancient petroglyphs. However, this trail can be daunting for first-timers but a breeze for experienced hikers. Better pack your sunscreen for this trail because it’s an open path, where you’ll get lots of sun.
Wadi Shah
This trail in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE reaches a 1095 meters summit. It is a bit more demanding, but the rewards are well worth it. You’ll navigate through boulder-strewn paths, natural pools, and even a small waterfall. The feeling of accomplishment when you reach the waterfall is unmatched, and it’s a fantastic spot to cool off before heading back.
Jebel Qada’ah
Nestled in the Northern UAE and Mussandam mountains, Jebel Qada’ah is home to one of the highest peaks in the Emirates. You can enjoy some of the best views from here, with two routes ranging from very difficult to moderate. You will be excited to find a secret staircase crafted into the sand by the local goat herders. This trail is great for adventure seekers.
