Residents also said that they had detected the odor in Ajman and other areas and asked about the potential source of the odor. Authorities have assured people that they are not in immediate danger, as the investigations continue.

The residents commented on the “strange smell” which was strong enough to make them linger outside and go inside buildings. Multiple reports of the odors from various emirates triggered general concern among the public and questions as to if the smell was associated with a hazardous gas leak or industrial accident.
