Aspire Zone Foundation Launches First-Ever ‘Run the Dome’ Indoor Race from Aug. 28

The Aspire Zone Foundation is announcing the launch of the first “Run the Dome” indoor race that will be held at the Aspire Dome on August 28 to 29, 2026, in Doha, Qatar’s iconic dome. The event, which will feature a number of enjoyable and entertaining sports and outdoor activities, will kick off a new chapter in Qatar’s ever-expanding sports calendar – providing runners with an unparalleled chance to run indoors under climate-controlled conditions in one of the world’s largest multi-purpose sports facilities.

The Race is a safe and comfortable environment for athletes of all abilities that is designed to be a win during the hot days of the Gulf summer. To make endurance sports available in an indoor setting, the Aspire Zone Foundation is meant to spark interest in all year-round physical activity and healthy living amongst the community.

A Race Built for Every Runner

The “Run the Dome” will consist of a new 4.8 km indoor run inside the Aspire Dome with its climate controlled setting. Students will be able to run consistently within the course’s parameters, in no way subjected to the extreme heat and humidity that normally would be expected outdoors during the month of August.

The event is open to all ranges of users from elite sport participants, to families, amateur runners and fitness enthusiasts, as well as young participants. Men’s, Women’s and Open categories bring a level playing field to the competition while at the same time addressing varying levels of experience.

Registration and Event Details

Registration began Aug. 2, 2026, and organizers estimate over 500 people will attend over the two days. The race will be run inside Al Rayyan’s renowned sports hub, Aspire Dome.

The event is more than competition, it’s about people getting more involved in sport, says Aspire Zone Foundation. The officials are hoping that it will become a ‘signpost year’ event, drawing in locals and international visitors.

Making the Most of World-Class Facilities

The Aspire Dome has proven its ability to be hosting International Sports Events and Elite Athletes training camps for a long time. During “Run the Dome,” Aspire Zone Foundation is sharing this Olympic level infrastructure with everyday runners, so that they can have a personal experience of one of the most advanced sports halls in the region.
