Kuwait Advises Public After Air Defenses Engage Hostile Drones

Kuwait’s General Staff of the Armed Forces has announced that the country’s air defense systems are actively responding to hostile drone attacks. The Alert, which was issued Saturday, August 1, advised residents to stay alert and adhere to instructions on security and safety given by authorities.

The statement said that any explosion sounds perceived throughout parts of the country is due to air defense system engagement with hostile drones. Rather, the military stressed that these noises are related to defensive operations and not mixed up with other events.

The authorities have urged keeping up to date with official government information, and not taking to social media to share unverified information. There was no information about either the number of drones involved, where they were intercepted or if any drone damage or casualties were reported.

The advice is given on the back of a rising number of security concerns regionally, with military officials emphasizing public awareness but defensive initiatives ongoing. The authorities are keeping a close eye on the situation and reiterated compliance with the instructions of the emergency will be required if another advisory is issued.
