Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program Opportunities in Qatar

The U.S. Embassy in Qatar has officially opened the call for the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program for the 2027-2028 academic cycle. It is a prestigious program, which provides Qatari academic staff and scholars with a special opportunity to undertake graduate-level post-doctoral research or lectures at some of the best universities in the United States. The program will take between three to ten months to promote bilateral academic cooperation and understanding. Scholars are fully funded with international airfare, and living allowances, and health insurance so that they can concentrate on their academic studies and professional contacts in the United States.

Eligibility for the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program

Applicants should have completed a doctoral degree, and must be Qatari citizens who have their home in Qatar. The applicants are required to exhibit a good academic history and proficiency in English. The U.S. Embassy in Qatar emphasizes that the project proposal must clearly outline research or teaching goals that contribute to the intellectual development of both nations.

Application Process for Qatari Researchers

The 2027- 2028 cycle has a deadline of October 15, 2026. The future researchers have to obtain a letter of invitation to one of the U.S. hosting institutions and apply via the official portal.
