UAE releases statement as Saudi Arabia hosts talks to end Ukrainian crisis

The UAE has released a statement as the Russian and US delegations recently met in the Saudi capital of Riyadh regarding the Ukrainian crisis. The Gulf state expressed hope that these talks are going to be a significant step in the direction of bridging differences.
In a statement, the UAE Foreign Ministry commended the efforts of Saudi Arabia in hosting the discussions to put an end to the conflict that has been continuing for nearly three years. The Kingdom is committed to supporting international peace efforts.
UAE promoting security, peace and stability
In its statement, the UAE Ministry reaffirmed the country’s commitment to supporting peaceful resolutions to conflicts and promoting international cooperation in addressing global challenges. It emphasised the need for diplomacy and collaboration.
Since the beginning of the Ukrainian crisis, the UAE has been promoting the importance of security, peace and stability. The recent Riyadh talks featured high-profile delegations from the US and Russia. But the discussions excluded Ukraine.
It has been reported that the US and Russia are going to appoint teams to negotiate the end to the brutal conflict and reestablish diplomatic channels, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said at the conclusion of the discussions in Riyadh.
“Concessions” need to be made by “all sides”
Speaking to reporters, Rubio highlighted that “concessions” are required to be made by “all sides” in order for the fighting to end. The US delegation suggested that the latest talks mark the first in a series of engagements to bring an end to the conflict.
In response to questions about if the US is going to accept Russia retaining any of the territory it had annexed from Ukraine since February 2022, one person from the US delegation noted that it is something “to be discussed”, reported CNN.
