UAE rules key competitiveness indicators in 2024: Let’s explore

The UAE secured the first rank globally in 223 indicators, compared to 215 in 2023, and ranked among the top five countries in 444 indicators, compared to 406 last year. It also ranked among the top 10 countries in 661 indicators, compared to 604 in 2023.

The UAE maintains its progressive trajectory throughout 2024, securing top positions in key indicators thanks to its leadership and ambition to enhance the quality of life of all citizens and residents.

UAE’s notable performance in key indicators

In the IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook 2024, the UAE climbed three places to the 7th position globally. Its performance has been outstanding across all report dimensions, ranking second in economic performance.

In the 2023/2024 Human Development Index report issued by the UN Development Programme, the UAE ranked first regionally and 17th globally out of 193 countries included in the report. These results highlight the UAE’s efforts to enhance the quality of life.

In the 2023/2024 Global Entrepreneurship Monitor report, the UAE ranked first globally for the third year in a string. In the Travel and Tourism Development Index, the country ranked first in the Mena region and 18th globally.

UAE climbs 34 points in Human Capital Index

Throughout 2024, the UAE secured top positions in a number of competitiveness indicators related to the civil aviation sector. The UNCTAD issued a report in June, highlighting the UAE’s second rank in the number of fresh FDI projects in 2023.

In the Quality Infrastructure Index for Sustainable Development in 2024, the UAE reached the fifth position globally. The index is being issued by the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO).
