UAE and Qatari education ministers discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation

HE Sarah bint Yousif Al Amiri, UAE Minister of Education, met her Qatari counterpart HE Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi on October 16. They discussed strategies to enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of education.

During the meeting, both sides intensified their focus on exchanging educational expertise. The UAE and Qatar are committed to protecting the Sustainable Development Goal 4 of ‘Quality Education’ – ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education for all.

UAE seeks to instill a culture of learning

The UAE Ministry of Education has a notable focus on promoting lifelong learning opportunities for its citizens. It notes the need for ensuring the best educational practices and modern curricula, and establishing innovation as a lifestyle.

The Ministry believes in incorporating tolerance in the school curriculum and also applying it in the school community. It is also keen to promote communications among different categories of the society and contributing to initiatives that enhance solidarity.

The UAE seeks to instill a culture of learning and acquisition of cognitive and life skills through compulsory education. The Ministry provides equal opportunities for students of communities, students living in difficult conditions and people of determination.

In 2012, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, UAE Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, launched the Mohammed bin Rashid Smart Learning Initiative. It encompassed Smart classes in all schools, the distribution of tablets to all students, and the provision of high-speed internet.

Deepening UAE-Qatar bilateral relations

In 2024, the UAE-Qatar bilateral relations have significantly improved. In a recent phone call, UAE President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, Emir of Qatar, discussed methods to enhance cooperation and collective action at different levels.

Both leaders emphasised the need to intensify efforts for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and discussed the importance of establishing a just, comprehensive and lasting peace solution to bring a sense of security and stability to all people.

This month, Qatar’s Emir received HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court. Both sides discussed the brotherly UAE-Qatar relations and the path to boost them to achieve further prosperity for their peoples.
