The significant role played by the UAE in supporting humanitarian efforts is recognised globally. Both leaders and international organisations are considering the country’s efforts as a model to be paid attention to at the time of providing aid.
The Emirates has also had a considerable impact on securing the global food system. The Gulf state’s prominent initiatives in addressing global food security challenges have ensured that food aid reaches those in need in conflict-affected areas.

UAE’s efforts to ensure permanent peace in Sudan
In an effort to advance the protection of civilians, humanitarian access and cessation of hostilities for Sudan, the UAE, US, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, UN and several other delegations recently met the representatives of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The people of Sudan have been navigating a tough period since last year due to an ongoing brutal fighting involving the Sudanese armed forces and the paramilitary group. Scores of people have lost their lives and many others have fled to neighbouring countries.
In the meeting, the delegations stressed the urgent humanitarian needs of the civilians, the imperative to respect and ensure respect of international humanitarian regulation, and the need to implement the commitments made under the Jeddah Declaration.

Since November 2021, the UAE has delivered almost 50,000 tonnes of urgent humanitarian aid to Gaza via 260 flights and 1,243 trucks to support those affected. The country has also been stressing for an effective and permanent ceasefire.
There is the case of the UAE facilitating multiple major Russia-Ukraine prisoner exchanges. The Gulf state has also sent medical relief supplies to Ukraine and provided food aid to scores of Ukrainian refugees in Bulgaria.
