Did Chris Evans actually sign an Israeli bomb?

Global star Chris Evans, or everyone’s beloved Captain America, is often in the limelight. This time, an old picture of him signing an ‘Israeli bomb’ is going viral on social media. Is there any truth to the incident? The actor has finally broken his silence on the controversy.

The picture in question features Evans and a US Air Force officer. The star is seen signing an object. He recently took to Instagram Stories to remove the “misinformation”, revealing that the photo is from a USO tour from eight years ago.

Chris Evans breaks silence on Israeli bomb controversy

Evans noted: “There is a lot of misinformation surrounding this picture. Some clarification: This image was taken during a USO tour in 2016. I went with a group of actors, athletes and musicians to show our appreciation for our service members.”

“The object I was asked to sign was not a bomb, or a missile, or a weapon of any kind. It was an inert object used for training or display purposes only. You can read the quote from the Air Force in the next story,” he further added.

In the next slide, Chris Evans uploaded a screenshot of a report by AFP, highlighting the quote by an Air Force spokesperson that read: “This object … is an explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) inert training aid. The object is meant to model an artillery shell …”

Nikki Haley scribbles “Finish Them” on Israeli shell

The controversy erupted a handful of days after a picture of former US presidential hopeful Nikki Haley scribbling “Finish Them” on an Israeli shell started going viral on social media. Former UN ambassador Danny Danon – accompanying Haley on her visit – posted the picture.

Both controversies have come against a backdrop of a raging Israel-Hamas fighting. The Gaza crisis erupted on October 7 as Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israeli cities, killing some 1,200 people. Israel’s retaliatory strikes have killed over 36,400 people so far.
