Recollecting superstar Tom Cruise’s major visits across the UAE

Tom Cruise recently celebrated nearly four decades since the release of the original ‘Top Gun’. The 61-year-old superstar shared photos from the set of 1986 on Instagram in honour of the film’s 38th anniversary. The post has been liked at least 759,100 times to date.
“It is incredible to look back on the thirty-eight years of Top Gun. To the fans who have been with us since the start, there would not be a Top Gun Day without you,” the actor-producer noted in the caption. Netizens have been pouring their positive thoughts in the comments.
The photos represent behind-the-scenes pictures of Cruise on set with the movie’s director Tony Scott and also a photo of him sitting with the film’s cast. One snap shows the actor smiling during a conversation with producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

1. For Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011)
Tom Cruise and his co-stars shot several scenes of this action-packed movie in Dubai, including the iconic scene where the actor climbs to the top of Burj Khalifa.
2. Visiting the Dubai Mall
The Dubai Mall is quite a touristy spot in the city. Cruise has been spotted skiing, shopping and dining at the place, or one of the largest shopping centres across the globe.
3. Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF)
Tom Cruise has attended the festival multiple times, both as a guest and to promote his films. DIFF has helped develop industry and talent in the region.
4. Skydiving scenes
The actor, prominent globally for his love of adrenaline-fuelled activities, opted for skydiving over the iconic Palm Jumeirah during one of his visits to Dubai.
5. For a charity auction
Cruise has been a part of philanthropic activities during his UAE visits. In 2011, he helped raise funds for the Dubai Autism Centre and in 2014, he was part of education initiatives.
