The event, which took place on 14 Nov, brought together key players from the media industry, offering a platform for discussion, collaboration, and exploration of the latest trends shaping the future of media.
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, gave the event its official opening on Tuesday at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
Speaking at the inaugural event, Sheikh Nahyan emphasized that the media can promote global cooperation as well as the exchange of fundamental values and interests. He also mentioned the media’s ability to highlight human achievements in a way that transcends nationality, ethnicity, religion, and cultural boundaries.
Tolerance and peaceful coexistence, according to Sheikh Nahyan, are forms of soft power that open doors for integrated local and global community engagement that advance prosperity and peace for all.
Furthermore, “we can deal reasonably with significant environmental issues like global climate change, waste management, recycling, potable water, and renewable energy sources when we have peace and tolerance.”
The minister mentioned that the Congress will talk about global warming and climate change, as well as how the media can help COP28, which is scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates from November 30 to December 12, achieve its objectives.”
As leaders in the media, you have the chance—no, the obligation—to instill optimism and hope for overcoming the challenge of climate change. You have the authority to spread the word about beneficial initiatives both locally and globally. The apparent dedication you have shown to tackling the worldwide issue of environmental protection, which poses a threat to humankind, motivates me.
Sheikh Nahyan emphasized that news organizations and other media businesses will keep utilizing digital technology to their advantage and increase their online presence to deliver content more quickly, enhance its relevance and timeliness, reach a wider audience, track readership and audience trends and preferences, boost revenue, and cut expenses.
Large audiences will continue to receive information and entertainment from electronic media, including web-based media, television and radio, satellite, wireless and mobile technologies, and other modern delivery methods, he continued.
