Woman Divorces Husband Just A Day After Marriage, After His Cake Prank

A woman shared her unusual story on Slate’s Dear Prudence advice column. She had gotten married recently, but just a day after the wedding, she found herself asking for a divorce.
The reason? Her husband broke her one non-negotiable request during their wedding reception – he rubbed their wedding cake in her face.
In her post, the bride revealed that she hadn’t been initially interested in getting married, but she had agreed when her boyfriend proposed.
While planning the wedding, she made it clear to him that he shouldn’t smear cake on her face during the reception. However, he did exactly that by shoving her face into the cake instead of smearing it gently.
Feeling humiliated and panicked due to her claustrophobia, she left the reception and decided to end the marriage the next day.
Her friends and family disagreed with her decision, urging her to give her husband a second chance and claiming she was overreacting. She also wondered if they were right.
When she asked for advice from Prudence, the columnist pointed out that she should trust her own feelings. The groom’s behavior, seen as disrespectful and physically aggressive, raised red flags.
Prudence advised her to consider how she felt about the situation rather than succumbing to pressure from others.
When her story was shared on Reddit’s Wedding Shamers subreddit, anonymous users supported her decision to divorce her husband.
They found his behavior mean-spirited and felt that violating her trust right after the wedding was a significant issue.
Some users highlighted the potential danger in his actions, as she is suffering from claustrophobia. They emphasized that respect and love should be the foundation of a marriage.
Most social media users mentioned the value of respecting boundaries and considering each other’s feelings in a marriage or any relationship.
If you’re unaware of claustrophobia, let us tell you that it’s a condition where people have a strong fear of enclosed spaces.
This fear can be triggered by situations like being in crowded elevators, windowless rooms, or even wearing tight clothing.
The main symptom is a fear of suffocation, which can be triggered by being in small rooms, cars, or even thinking about being in confined spaces.
