UAE's global humanitarian efforts and focus on fostering solidarity

Supported by the generous spirit of its leadership and people, the UAE is prominent for its unflinching commitment to fostering international solidarity and humanitarian cooperation through different programmes across the globe.

From its establishment to the middle of this year, the country’s foreign aid amounted to Dh360 billion, helping mitigate the effects of disasters and crises, support economic and social progress, and promote international peace.

UAE continuing prominent humanitarian efforts globally

This year, the UAE played a notable role in humanitarian efforts globally. For instance, President Sheikh Mohamed launched the Zayed Humanitarian Legacy Initiative, allocating Dh20 billion for humanitarian efforts in the most vulnerable communities.

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has also launched a campaign to honour mothers and support the education and training of millions of people in different countries.

The UAE has announced a contribution of $100 million to tackle hunger and poverty across the globe. There is also the Reaching the Last Mile Initiative that has committed Dh55 million to the Global INSTITUTE for Disease Elimination (GLIDE).

The Gulf state also continues to assist those affected by natural disasters. It has extended a helping hand to people in many countries, including Burkina Faso, the Philippines, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia and Kenya.

UAE’s humanitarian campaigns as conflicts rage globally

Through Operation ‘Gallant Knight 3’, the UAE has established a field hospital in Gaza, supplying tonnes of humanitarian aid to the territory, and launched an urgent vaccination campaign to protect more than 640,000 children from the threat of polio.

President Sheikh Mohamed has also directed a $100 million emergency relief package for Lebanon. Earlier this year, the UAE pledged $100 million to support humanitarian efforts in Sudan and its neighbouring countries.
