UAE's Efforts to Address Global Challenges Discussed in Humanitarian Council Meeting

Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroe’s Families Affairs and Chairman of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council highlighted the significance of the UAE’s developmental, humanitarian and philanthropic programs around the world under the leadership of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan reflecting the civilisational and humane character of the country and creating dignified living conditions for beneficiaries.

Speaking during the board meeting of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council  various humanitarian initiatives and development projects undertaken by the Council, the priorities of the UAE Aid Agency and the strategic plan of the UAE Youth Council for Humanitarian Work were discussed.

Sheikh Theyab emphasized the significance of integration by all humanitarian agencies in the United Arab Emirates as well as international institutions associated with it to ensure the greatest results and possible influence on such needy communities. He commended the follow through of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan in his efforts to forge cooperation among diverse stakeholders for effectiveness and sustainability.

He emphasized the need for harmonized efforts by national and international organizations to achieve maximum impact on communities which are in need and needs basic support. Sheikh Theyab thanked the numerous programs initiated by Emirati donor agencies and charitable institutions within and outside the country during 2024 and also he asked for their continuation in the current year.

In the meeting, Sheikh Theyab was briefed on the humanitarian project progress in the UAE particularly in areas that face shortage levels of basic services like clean water, electricity, education and health care. The Board also discussed operational plans, media coverage and the strategic plans for early recovery and stabilisation.

Those present in the meeting include Shamma bint Suhail Al Mazrui, Minister of Community Empowerment, Mariam bint Mohammed Al Muhairi, Head of International Affairs Office of the Presidential Court and Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei, Chairman of Emirates Red Crescent.
