The UAE has condoled with India over the disastrous landslides that occurred in the Indian state of Kerala, claiming hundreds of lives and causing different types of injuries. The UAE government said that it is very sorry to hear about the families of those who lost their lives in this incident and wishes for an early recovery of the injured people from this disaster.

UAE Residents Anxious About Family and Friends

Many people from the Indian state of Kerala stay and work in the UAE. They are in a highly anxious state of mind over their family and loved ones back home. Some can’t contact their loved ones because phone lines are down. Others are desperately waiting for news about missing relatives.

One UAE resident said, “I haven’t heard from my parents in two days. I’m so scared for them.”

Rescue Operations On

The Indian army is leaving no stone unturned to rescue people:

• 1,500 soldiers are engaged in rescue work

• So far, they have saved 1,000 lives

• Soldiers are constructing temporary bridges to reach marooned areas

But the work is tough. It continues to rain, and in some places, it is difficult to reach.

How People Can Help

People in the UAE who wish to help can:

• Contribute to relief funds

• Send supplies through registered charities

• Share information on social media that holds accuracy to find missing people for families

The situation in Kerala remains critical. The rescue teams will continue their operations until the last survivor is found and the stranded people are provided relief.
