UAE Prime Minister Honors 16 Entities For Corporate Social Responsibility

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, recently honored 16 entities with the Community Impact Medal in recognition of their outstanding contributions to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability practices. 

The event took place at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi and was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Lt. General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the significance of strengthening and organizing CSR efforts by launching strategic projects aligned with national priorities. 

He stated that companies have a responsibility to make a positive impact on society and the environment, going beyond their profit-making objectives.

The Community Impact Medal, specifically in the “Platinum category,” was bestowed upon these 16 entities as a tribute to their exemplary CSR initiatives. 

The medal, issued by the National CSR Fund, recognizes organizations that adhere to sustainability standards, environmental practices, governance, sustainable development goals, and national priorities. 

The honored companies include prominent names such as

  • Etihad Rail, Emirates Group, DP World, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank
  • HSBC Middle East, Crescent Enterprises, ENOC, Dubai Holding Asset Management, 
  • Du Telecom, Etisalat Group, First Abu Dhabi Bank, Khidmah, 
  • Dulsco, Dolphin Energy Limited, Apparel Group, and DMCC.

Abdullah Bin Touq Al Marri, the Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National CSR Fund, highlighted the fund’s aim to establish a national ecosystem that supports economic growth and sustainability. 

The fund’s efforts include initiatives such as the Sustainable Blue Economy Strategy in collaboration with the Umm Al Quwain government, which focuses on enhancing sustainable impact across various sectors. 

The event also marked the launch of the fund’s new corporate identity and showcased the impact of its projects, including addressing the COVID-19 pandemic and promoting sustainable tourism.

The National CSR Fund, a federal authority, plays a crucial role in shaping the framework and governance of CSR in the UAE. 

It manages and directs contributions from the private sector towards CSR and sustainable impact initiatives that align with environmental, social, governance principles, and sustainable development goals.

The Community Impact Medals have given as a testament to their dedication in driving positive change and aligning their operations with national priorities and sustainability standards.
