HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, received HE Li Qiang, Premier of the State Council of China, and his accompaning high-level delegation on Thursday.
His Highness greeted members of the delegation, expressing hope that the visit can further strengthen the UAE-China bilateral relations. The Chinese Premier’s trip comes against a backdrop of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties.
Progress of UAE-China bilateral cooperation in different areas
During meticulous discussions on Thursday, UAE President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and HE Li Qiang discussed different aspects of cooperation and joint efforts to enhance and expand the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Premier Li conveyed to His Highness the greetings of Chinese President Xi. The Emirati leader also conveyed his greetings to his Chinese counterpart and extended his congratulations on the upcoming anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
Both sides analysed the progress of bilateral cooperation, especially in the areas of economy, trade, investment, clean energy, sustainability and industry, besides education and culture – areas remaining priorities for both countries’ development strategies.
UAE playing a key role in China’s Belt and Road Initiative
During the discussions, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed and His Excellency Li Qiang commented on this year’s 40th anniversary of the establishment of UAE-China diplomatic relations, noting that during that time both sides have fostered a close partnership.
The UAE and China are committed to ensuring a sustainable development and the prosperity of their peoples. The UAE President emphasised his country’s keenness to remain a strategic partner in the ambitious Belt and Road Initiative.
Both sides highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination in a manner that serves their mutual interests and advances peace, development and prosperity globally, according to media reports.
UAE, China stress need to resolve conflicts diplomatically
The UAE President and the Chinese Premier discussed several regional and international issues of mutual concern, stressing the importance of all efforts to promote peace and stability globally. They underscored the need to resolve conflicts through peaceful means.
Both sides also touched on the situation in the Middle East, particularly the efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire in Gaza, ensuring the protection of civilians, providing safe and sustainable humanitarian aid, and preventing escalation of the conflict.
