Sudan has been suffering and trapped in a conflict since April 2023, when fighting started between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). This is the war that has forced millions of people to leave their families without food or even clean water to drink, and the country was at the edge of collapse. In the time of the deep crisis, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was the one that stepped forward being partners with Saudi Arabia, Egypt along with the United States to call for peace and security.
On September 12, 2025, these nations together released a joint statement which clearly outlines a roadmap for Sudan’s future. The first step which is decided to be a three-month humanitarian truce. This pause we are seeing in fighting is not about politics; it is all about saving many lives. It will also allow aid workers help to reach children starving, those hospitals that lack medicine and even families that quickly need safety.
After this truce, the plan is a call for a permanent ceasefire and after that a nine-month transitional process. This whole process would be preparing Sudan to move toward a civilian-led government, providing its people a chance to shape their very own future without fear of violence.
The role of the UAE is important because it’s using its influence and strong regional ties to save Sudan from total collapse. While working with partners, the UAE is pushing forward for open humanitarian corridors, making sure that food and medicine can flow in easily, and stressing about the war must not continue.
