The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is mourning the passing of Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who was the Representative of the Abu Dhabi Ruler. The sad news has led to a three-day mourning period declared by several Rulers’ Courts in the country.
The Court of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, along with other Courts, has mourned his death and offered condolences to the Al Nahyan family.
The Courts have lowered flags to half-mast during this period as a mark of respect. Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan played important roles in various capacities, including serving as the Chairman of the Department of Seaports and President of the UAE Football Association.
The funeral prayer for Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will be held at the Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed the First Mosque in Al Bateen, Abu Dhabi, after the Dhuhr (noon) prayer.
It will also be performed in absentia in all mosques across the country. The Presidential Court has announced the timings for offering condolences at Al Mushrif Palace in Abu Dhabi.
The passing of Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has led to an outpouring of grief and condolences from across the UAE. People have offered prayers and sympathy for the departed soul and expressed their sorrow to the Al Nahyan family.
Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was born in 1965 in Al Ain and held various important positions, contributing to major development projects in the UAE.
