The UAE moon sighting committee has officially confirmed the starting date of Ramadan 2025 as March 1. The crescent moon could be seen on Friday – meaning February 28 is the last date of the month of Sha’ban and Ramadan starts the next day.
The holy month of Ramadan can only begin once the committee spots the crescent moon of Sha’ban. During this time, Muslims across the globe engage in charitable acts and commit to a daily fast from sunrise until sunset.
The abstention from eating, drinking and smoking is intended to last from sunrise until sunset throughout the 29 or 30-day period. Ramadan cannons can be heard around Dubai at sunset. They signal the time to break the fast.
Fun things to do this Ramadan in Dubai
There are a couple of important meals during Ramadan. One is Suhoor, the meal traditionally eaten in the early hours of the day before fasting hours begin. The Iftar meal later in the day is used to break the fast.
During Ramadan, employees are required to be in the office for a shorter period. There are a number of fun things to do this holy month in Dubai, such as taking a heritage safari trip for Iftar. There is no place better than enjoying a full Iftar in an authentic desert camp.
Ripe Market is another interesting place to be in this holy month. This market is running a series of Ramadan experiences from March 1 to March 23. Families can take part in a number of activities such as canvas painting and date making.
