UAE, Kazakhstan ink key MoU for data centre and artificial intelligence projects

The UAE Ministry of Investment; Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry; and Sovereign Wealth Fund “Samruk-Kazyna” have signed a MoU on investment cooperation in data centre and artificial intelligence projects in Kazakhstan.
Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, Minister of Investment; Bagdat Mussin, Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan; and Nurlan Zhakupov, Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Kazyna, JSC, inked the strategic deal.
Data centres pivotal for Kazakhstan’s technological advancement
The MoU centres on establishing efficient collaboration through the development of bilateral relationships between public and private organisations. It also proposes introducing incentives to solidify relevant initiatives and seeks to facilitate the exchange of knowledge.
The Emirati minister commented the agreement reflects a commitment to further bolster bilateral relations between the UAE and Kazakhstan and making efforts together to realise the shared vision for economic advancement.
Meanwhile, Zhakupov said the establishment of data centres is pivotal for Kazakhstan’s technological advancement, emphasising they serve as the backbone of innovation and help propel the nation into the forefront of the global digital landscape.
The strategic development of data centres enhances domestic capabilities, besides attracting foreign investments, thus positioning Kazakhstan as an attractive destination for international businesses looking for a robust technological infrastructure, Zhakupov added.
Kazakhstan’s data centre market projected to evolve further
In recent years, Kazakhstan has been noting substantial growth in its data centre industry, driven by progressive government policies, increased demand for computing resources and major technological advancements.

The country’s data centre market is projected to evolve further. Meanwhile, the key MoU inked recently reflects the two nation’s strengthening ties. During 2022, Kazakhstan’s exports to the UAE amounted to $560.34 million, and the UAE’s exports reached $1.69 billion.
