UAE, Jordan, Egypt and France drop aid parcels into Gaza as ceasefire talks yet to yield results

The ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict has killed 29,878 people in Gaza and injured 70,215 others, according to the Ministry of Health in the enclave. It has also raised concerns over Israel committing 11 massacres, killing 96 and injuring 172 in the last 24 hours.

The UN Children’s Fund has highlighted that five months of fighting and siege have left one million children in Gaza facing severe food insecurity and a deadly health crisis. It said more than 95% of families reduced the adult food portion to feed their children.

Friendly nations airdrop aid into Gaza Strip

On Tuesday, Egypt airdropped food and medical supplies into the territory, using the support of the UAE and Jordan. The UN said the Israeli forces “systematically” blocked Gazans from accessing aid, making it hard to deliver relief supplies to a lawless conflict zone.

The King of Jordan joined the airdrop operations. The Jordanian Armed Forces said in a statement that the leader’s participation confirmed the country’s “ongoing support for our Palestinian brothers, to deliver aid by all means to the people of Gaza.”

Six C-130 aircraft took off from Amman, including three Royal Jordanian Air Force aircraft and three others (UAE, Egypt and France). They were part of the humanitarian aid operation to help the people of Gaza, with participation of friendly countries.

The Israeli army said on Tuesday that 13 of its soldiers sustained injuries in fighting in the last 24 hours. It said the number of injured Israeli officers and soldiers since October 7 was 2,981, including 465 seriously injured, 791 moderately injured and 1,724 lightly injured.

UAE’s ‘Gallant Knight 3’ operation easing sufferings

The brutal Israel-Hamas war erupted in October as Hamas launched a surprise attack on southern Israeli cities, killing some 1,200 people and taking several others hostages. Israel’s retaliatory strikes have claimed tens of thousands of lives and displaced many more.

In an effort to ease the sufferings of scores of Gazans, the UAE has launched the ‘Gallant Knight 3’ operation. To date, it has delivered tonnes of emergency aid to the enclave, besides operating a field hospital and a floating hospital, too.
