France to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation notably in the commercial, investment and cultural sectors.
The two sides also discussed ways to further collaboration in climate action, energy, advanced technology, artificial intelligence and other sectors that are consistent with their shared vision of sustainable development and prosperity.
During their visit at the Élysée Palace in Paris, the two presidents reviewed regional and worldwide trends and exchanged perspectives on crucial problems, reiterating their commitment to ongoing conversation and partnership.
Sheikh Mohamed emphasised the UAE and France’s positive collaboration in a variety of industries including energy and climate action. He stated that the two countries have had a Comprehensive Strategic Energy Partnership since 2022 and established the UAE-France Bilateral Climate Investment Platform last year.
He further stated that the two countries are committed to the proper use of artificial intelligence for global growth as well as collaboration in the protection of cultural heritage and other areas of mutual concern.
The UAE-France Framework for Cooperation in Artificial Intelligence was signed by the UAE’s Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority, Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and member of the Abu Dhabi Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council and France’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot, and the Minister for the Economy.
In addition to highlighting their intention to establish a strategic AI partnership, the two presidents reviewed collaboration under the joint UAE-France Framework Agreement which aims to invest in a 1GW AI campus in France.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to investigating collaboration on projects and investments that support the development of the AI value chain such as investment in UAE and French AI, offtake of cutting-edge chips, data centre infrastructure and talent development as well as the establishment of Virtual Data Embassies to enable sovereign AI and cloud infrastructure in both nations.
The UAE and France’s partnership is strong and dynamic as evidenced by the wide range of activities and the magnitude of infrastructure development planned under the UAE-France Framework Agreement for Cooperation in Artificial Intelligence. The two leaders decided to keep a close eye on the progress of certain AI collaboration initiatives throughout the upcoming time frame.
