The UAE dispatched the sixth Emirati humanitarian aid ship to Gaza under ‘Operation Chivalrous Knight 3’ on January 20. This aid came as a generous contribution from H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the “Mother of the Nation,” Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), as per WAM.
The shipment contained 5,800 tonnes of humanitarian supplies, including food, shelter materials, and medical necessities. The efforts were carried out with the help and contribution of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, Dar Al Ber Society, and the Sharjah Charity International.
This aid effort came in line with the largest phase of Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 in Gaza, initiated under the directives of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in the wake of the Israel-Hamas truce.
The ship was set to the Egyptian city of Arish from where the aid will be transferred to Gaza, as part of the unwavering commitment of the UAE to provide necessary support to Palestinian people in Gaza.
Several initiatives launched by UAE
The UAE has launched multiple initiatives in Gaza as part of the relief operation to provide humanitarian assistance to Palestinian people in need. The UAE authorities have set up two field hospitals – one in Gaza and a floating hospital off the coast of Arish. Additionally, five automated bakeries have been installed in multiple impacted regions, with flour being provided to nine existing bakeries and support to 37 community kitchens in Gaza.
The UAE has also built six desalination plants which are producing two million gallons of water daily, benefiting more than 600,000 people.
Massive Aid Support
As part of the operation, the UAE made 53 successful humanitarian airdrops to isolated areas in Gaza to provide much-needed aid to the Palestinian people. These airdrops have delivered a total of 3,700 tonnes of relief and humanitarian supplies under the Operation Birds of Goodness initiative.
Emirati authorities have also extended extensive support to the medical sector in Gaza to provide over 700 tonnes of medical equipment, medicines, consumables, and 15 ambulances.
The UAE has intensified its efforts to ensure the continuous flow of help and support to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza.
