The delegation covered priority files including the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid, reinforcing global health and prosperity, preventing and resolving conflicts through peaceful means, and addressing the climate crisis.
UAE’s notable participation in 79th UN general assembly
The UAE delegation participated in multiple meetings pertaining to the humanitarian response in Gaza and Sudan, climate resilience in relation to rise in sea levels, the future of artificial intelligence, bridging the digital divide, and other relevant topics.
Emirati representatives attended an event for leveraging the transformative energy of artificial intelligence and cross-border collaboration to improve the data available to decision makers and key officials in the vast Middle East.
During its participation in the General Debate of the 79th session of the UN general assembly, the UAE seeks to continue its role as a reliable partner, supporting international efforts to build stable and prosperous societies, as per official media reports.
UAE’s commitment to promoting prosperity globally
Lana Nusseibeh, the assistant minister for political affairs, engaged in discussions involving Hillary Clinton, former US Secretary of State, and Martin Griffiths, former UN under-secretary-general for humanitarian affairs and emergency relief coordinator.
For his part, Sheikh Shakhboot, minister of state, participated in the sixth Summit of the European Corporate Council on africa and the Middle East. His participation reflects the UAE’s commitment to promoting sustainable prosperity and development in the continent.
Sheikh Mohamed seeking to develop UAE-US relations
The 79th United Nations general assembly comes as the UAE President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed continues a high-profile US visit. On September 25, he met a number of US senators, discussing opportunities to develop the UAE-US relations at various levels.
His Highness emphasised that the bilateral relations are based on solid foundations of trust, mutual respect and common interests, highlighting the the US remains a key ally of the UAE and has been a central tenet of its foreign policy for over 50 years.
Sheikh Mohamed and his US counterpart Joe Biden also held meticulous discussions earlier. During the official trip, His Highness has also discussed the raging Middle East challenges, reaffirming the UAE’s commitment to countering violence and terrorism.
