UAE President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed reached Cairo on Saturday on a high-profile trip. He and his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah el-Sisi exchanged greetings and engaged in cordial discussions reflecting the strength of bilateral relations.
El-Sisi also hosted an Iftar buffet, or a fast-breaking meal, in honour of the Emirati President. Both leaders reaffirmed the strong and distinguished bilateral relations and explored strategies to enhance cooperation in different fields.
UAE-Egypt relations: Fraternal relations, regional issues
The UAE and Egypt share a close relationship in terms of both official and public concepts. In recent years, those relations have significantly deepened across different fields, including economy, investment and energy.
During the Saturday meeting in Cairo, the UAE President expressed his gratitude to el-Sisi for the reception and highlighted his country’s commitment to continue strengthening the existing cooperation.
Both countries are seeking strategies to fulfill the aspirations of their peoples. On January 16, President of Egypt el-Sisi visited the UAE. He held discussions on regional issues, especially on the situations in the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, Syria and Sudan.
UAE-Egypt bilateral relations based on mutual respect
The UAE and Egypt maintain close relations based on mutual respect, appreciation and common interest. Since its inception, this bond of friendship has been distinguished by specialty and mutual respect.
Perhaps the most salient feature of the UAE-Egypt political relationship is the ability to anchor solidarity and brotherly ties. The UAE is one of the most prominent investors in Egypt. In 2008, both countries signed MoUs on political consultations.
