The 12th edition of the Step Conference is being held at Dubai Internet City from February 21 – 22. The event stands at the forefront of technological and entrepreneurial innovation, contributing to Dubai’s stature in the global technology sector.
Ray Dargham, Co-Founder and CEO of Step, is leading the charge. Highlighting the dynamic nature of this year’s conference, he said: “We are gearing up to host 8,000 international participants, over 350 startups and the attention of 150 venture capital firms.”
Step Conference 2024 is expected to provide financing sources estimated at $8.2 billion. It has introduced six distinct tracks – AI, Startup, Fintech, Digital, Earth and Wellness – each dedicated to exploring different dimensions of technology and entrepreneurship.

Directing focus towards AI, sustainability, green tech
The AI track – a notable addition this year – supports the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031, discussing a string of raging topics including artificial general intelligence to regulatory frameworks and deep learning.
The Earth track is also another key addition, focusing on sustainable technologies and strategies. Emphasising the conference’s commitment to driving positive change, Dargham stressed concerns over climate change and the need for sustainable solutions.
By directing focus towards sustainability and green tech, the event is expected to shine the light on latest technologies and strategies that can contribute to a more sustainable world, according to SME10X (formerly SME Advisor Middle East).
UAE cementing role as top destination for global events
Dargham also underscored the event’s role in fostering global networking and innovation. The pre-arranged meetings between startups, mentors and investors – in addition to a dedicated app for on-site networking – is expected to enhance the deal-making experience.
