Sharjah Taxi, a division of Osool Transport Solutions, has started testing its first electric vehicles (EVs) at Sharjah International Airport.
This initiative is likely to promote environmentally friendly transportation in Sharjah and aims to work towards achieving carbon-free public transportation by 2050.
The EV being tested is the Chinese Skywell electric vehicle, known for its comfort and luxury. It offers a spacious interior and a calm travel experience due to its streamlined design, setting it apart from other EVs.
The vehicle’s eco-friendly nature reduces harmful carbon emissions, prioritizing customer comfort and safety.
The testing began in early June 2023 and aims to assess the advantages and suitability of the Skywell EV for the luxury fleet of Sharjah Taxi, ensuring it meets global comfort, safety, and security standards.
Khaled Al Kindi, Acting General Manager of Osool Transport Solutions, expressed the company’s commitment to sustainability and environmental preservation by providing environmentally friendly transportation.
Sharjah Taxi is actively expanding the number of electric charging stations across the emirate to accommodate various EVs, ensuring convenience for users. The company plans to explore new EV models for optimal economic and environmental outcomes.
This initiative is part of Sharjah’s ongoing efforts to promote eco-friendly transportation and reflects the company’s dedication to delivering high-quality transportation services while meeting customer needs and contributing to a sustainable and environmentally friendly future.

The UAE has set a goal to have 50% of electric vehicles on its roads by 2050. To achieve this, Sharjah Taxi is planning to convert a large portion of its cars to hybrids by the end of 2023. Hybrid cars use both electricity and petrol, which is better for the environment.
In Dubai, the Roads and Transport Authority has a plan to make all its taxis eco-friendly by 2027. This means all the taxis will either be hybrid cars or fully electric cars. Some might even use hydrogen power, which is also good for the environment.
