saudi arabia's neom gets new electric boats

NEOM — the city of the future being built in Saudi Arabia — will get some special boats. They do not make any pollution. They will help people move around on water quickly and easily.

This boat differs from a normal boat due to:

  • It does not run on gas; it does not smoke
  • It can travel at really fast speeds
  • It uses less energy, and so it is cheaper in running
  • They all will be many, and hence customers will not have to wait for long.

When Will the Boats Arrive?

The boats will arrive to NEOM in 2025. There will be eight in total. A company from Sweden, Candela, has made these boats. They are called P-12 boats. The man who started Candela, Gustav Hasselskog, says these boats will make much traveling on the water better than it was before.

How Do the Boats Work?

The P-12 boats contain special parts called hydrofoils. These help in the use of very little ‘else’ energy as compared to a normal boat that uses. In fact, they use 80% less energy! This means they’re much better in terms of the environment.

Where Else Are These Boats Being Used?

These boats were to be used earlier on in Stockholm, Sweden, before coming to NEOM. There, people would travel in them as some sort of water buses and move around the city. NEOM was to be a very modern and clean city. All these boats will help in the movement of the people without causing pollution. That is in line with NEOM’s plan, which was having a transport system good to the environment and easy for everyone to use.
