Qatar ranks among the highest in the 2025 ICT Digital Economy Index

In a report on The 2025 ICT Development Index (IDI) released by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Qatar is listed as one of the most digitally advanced countries in the world with a notable score of 98.4 out of 100, the country is now ranked as one parts of the top digital economies in the world.

The report commended Qatar’s strong internet access, digital infrastructure, and digital usage. There is 100% coverage of at least 3G connection for the entire population, and 99.7% of residents report using the internet. Nearly 98.7% of homes are supplied with fixed broadband internet service.

Qatar’s internet usage is some of the highest in the world, with the average mobile user consuming 169.1 GB monthly and fixed broadband users consuming 9339.7 GB per month. These figures suggest both high connectivity and excellent service quality.

Qatar surpassed the world’s average score of 78.2 and the Arab regional average of 88.2. Only Saudi Arabia ranks higher, with a score of 99.2. Qatar acquired a score of 100 for universal connectivity and 96.8 for meaningful connectivity which includes affordability, digital skills, and service quality.

The country has achieved great success as part of its Qatar National Vision 2030, which has been focused on building a digital economy beyond oil and gas. The investments in telecom and smart technologies have led Qatar towards being a digital economy leader. Qatar’s ranking demonstrates its position as a high-income nation, with a supportive government contributing towards digital transformation.
