project your art sky high a guide to the 2026 burj khalifa open call

Emaar has officially announced the opening for the Artists/Designers/Filmmakers and Digital Creatives in the 2026 Burj Khalifa Open Call, providing a magnificent platform for artists to showcase their creations on the highest tower in the world. The competition welcomes entries from UAE-based and also entrants from around the world for the first time in the history of this prestigious projection mapping competition, making it one of the world’s premier ones.

This year’s campaign is all about international creative excellence, rather than local talent, as in the past. The AED 100,000 Credit in 2025 was dropped, but Emaar will be giving something just as prestigious: global recognition on one of the world’s most iconic monuments.

What Kind of Artwork Is Emaar Looking For?

All participants will be asked to design an original three-minute audio-visual projection of transforming the Burj Khalifa into an art masterpiece. The use of words and phrases should reflect innovation, creativity and the spirit of Dubai, but respect cultural values of the UAE.

All compositions, graphics, animation and soundtrack must be original or properly licensed. Using copyrighted music, no usage rights for the stock visuals or 3rd creative assets allowed.

Technical Requirements You Must Follow

Participants must download the official Burj Khalifa projection mapping template and technical guide first before they can start designing the project.

These files enable creators to map the visuals with an accurate depiction of the individual architecture of the building. Applicants must submit:

  • A 3 minute MP4 preview video, including audio.
  • A high resolution MOV master projection file.
  • An audio track that is copyright free.

A concept note (up to 300 words) that states the idea for the project.

It is important to address these specifications carefully so as not to have a piece of work that is not counted even if it is incomplete or not formatted properly.

How to Apply?

The application process is simplified with the view of being easy to use for creators around the world.

Firstly, download the mapping template and technical manual from the Burj Khalifa website. Create your projection with the set amount of time (three minutes) and necessary scale.

When you have your files finished, bundle them all up and send the MP4 preview, MOV master file, standalone audio and concept note to [email protected].

The last date for submitting the paper is 18/08/2026 11:59 PM GST.

Why Does This Competition Matters?

Burj Khalifa is one of the most popular tourist sites in Dubai and is one of the world’s most photographed buildings every year! When your artwork is projected on the wall of your building, you’re getting worldwide recognition that you could be unlikely to obtain in other creative competitions.

This is a once in a lifetime moment for all digital artists, motion designers, animation studios and projection mapping professionals to have their work exhibited globally.
