Presidents of UAE and Armenia discuss bilateral relations and economic cooperation

UAE President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and his Armenian counterpart HE Vahagn Khachaturyan recently held discussions on strengthening bilateral cooperation, especially in the economic and investment fields.

The meeting took place at Qasr Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi. Both sides exchanged opinions on a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest. His Highness is hoping for continued stability and prosperity for Armenia and its people.

Strengthening stability and security in Caucasus region

During the meeting, the UAE President expressed his hope that the recent announcement by Armenia and Azerbaijan on the successful conclusion of peace negotiations is going to contribute to strengthening stability and security for the Caucasus region.

For his part, the President of Armenia expressed his gratitude to His Highness for his continued support in improving bilateral relations and promoting their shared interests. He reaffirmed a mutual commitment to bolstering the relationship across all areas.

During his working visit, Vahagn Khachaturyan, accompanied by Karen Grigorian, the Ambassador of Armenia to the UAE, and the accompanying delegation, visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in the capital Emirate.

UAE and Armenia expanding economic cooperation

The UAE and Armenia established diplomatic relations on June 25, 1998. Since the establishment of the Armenian Embassy in Abu Dhabi in 2000, both countries have expanded their economic cooperation.

The UAE is at the top of the list of the largest exporting and importing countries in Armenia. The Gulf state’s non-oil exports to Armenia totalled $229 million in 2022. The same year, bilateral non-oil trade numbers amounted to nearly $1.53 billion.
