no longer coughing day and night, hayley williams is feeling better

Hayley Williams, Paramore frontwoman, says her health has improved significantly and she is no longer coughing “all day and all night” from the lung infection. But her stomach is still reeling from the 10 kinds of medication.

The infection had forced Paramore to postpone four shows. Williams said she has been doing everything she can to fight the lung infection, so they wouldn’t have to disappoint anyone with more news of disappointments and cancellations.

“When I was feeling my worst I couldn’t do much but just sleep and lay around. I watched all of Yellowjackets, 3 or 4 music docs…They Cloned Tyrone, A Good Person, but mostly I just scrolled around on my phone…to a degree that has been, to put it nicely, DISGUSTING.”

Hayley Williams said she and her  rock bandmates have been off the road for a couple weeks now” and spend their time in Los Angeles, where they are recording new material. Williams shared that the break from touring has been good for her lungs, but she has taken on an unhealthy addiction, by being “chronically online”. She feels it’s dangerous.

Taking to Discord, Williams asked her followers if anyone else knows this pain. “For me, it always starts out sweet. I love to see photos or random anecdotes from people who’ve come out to our shows. I love the stupid inside jokes and even the sticky parasocial connection.” The Running Out of Time singer says she also sees lots of news, especially from back home – Nashville. “It’s literally always sad or rage-inducing. Never positive. Depressing. Now that the bulk of our touring for the year is over, I’m hoping to dive head first into creating some better routines.”

Williams is working towards a better routine, so that she and bandmates Zac Farro and Taylor York create more material. “Zac and Taylor, and I also just want to get back to making things. Not only the creative process, but the layers of insulation that can come with the creative process. For me, when we get into this mode, it always feels nice to disappear this way.”

She wants to find balance between the disappearing and not completely shut out the world.
