Abu Dhabi Introduces My Home is Safe Initiative for New Home Handovers

The Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, with the support of Abu Dhabi Real Estate Centre, has introduced the My Home is Safe campaign for improving home safety. The program is geared toward those families who are “newly handed over” properties and will assist families in creating preventive safety habits as they settle into their new homes.

Families Receive Practical Safety Training

All members of the household, parents, children and domestic workers are included. Theoretical and practical basic Fire Fighting, using a Fire Extinguisher, smoke detector awareness & fire emergency response to Kitchen & Electrical fire are imparted to the participants. The programme also tackles last but not least child safety and common household accidents prevention.

Evacuation Planning and Safety Equipment

Residents learn and prepare effective home evacuation plans to quickly respond to emergencies in their families. At the end of the training, accreditation certificates and free first aid kits are presented. Homes that take part in the project also receive fire extinguishers to ensure immediate household preparedness.

Partnership Aims to Improve Community Safety

Through fire safety education in the property shift, ADCDA and ADREC hope that the safety of fire and emergency preparedness will become a daily management priority. The strategy will encourage householders to have greater responsibility for their own family and property, and minimise avoidable household risks.

The program also contributes to Abu Dhabi’s goal of enhancing the quality of life and community preparedness for disaster by raising awareness at the preemptive level. The programme aims to foster a culture of responsibility throughout the emirate and make houses safer places to live thanks to a set of simple and effective guidelines, along with key safety products, that are distributed by the programme at the beginning.
