The Cultural Village Foundation Qatar (Katara) has announced the beginning of the fourth edition of Qatar’s popular Teen Art Awards 2026 along with the Art Connects Foundation and the British Council. The international competition is an opportunity for youngsters to showcase their creativity on an international stage.

Everyone can enter and young artists from all around the world can participate in a free competition. Participants need to be familiar with the requirements, artwork specifications and entry deadline before entering their work which starts on August 1, 2026.

Katara Teen Art Awards 2026 Themes

This year the Katara Teen Art Awards 2026 theme of the competition is: “Belonging.” The theme can be interpreted in a variety of ways by teenagers such as identity, home, memory, cultural heritage, community, displacement, personal connection etc.

Artists can have a lot of freedom, they are able to investigate how one feels like to belong based on their own experience, culture, and art style.

Katara Teen Art Awards 2026: How to Apply?

The competition is for teens ages 13-17 as of submission. Participants can come from any nationality/country of residence and may come alone or as part of a group.

No application fee and the competition is open to young artists the world over. Special programs are also available for youth with disabilities.

Katara Teen Art Awards 2026: Acceptable Art Forms

Painting, drawing, illustration, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media, photography, digital, graphic design, fashion, craft, installation, performance, art writing and short film are some of the forms that are acceptable to Katara.

Generally images should be uploaded in jpg or png and videos should be uploaded in MP4 format as specified by the submission requirements of the competition.

Katara Teen Art Awards 2026: Quick Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Choose Your Artwork

Choose up to 3 original works of artwork clearly related to the “Belonging” theme. Create quality digital files prior to using the application.

Step 2: Prepare Your Description

Compose either a 100–250 word statement for every work explaining its title, medium, dimensions, year of making, and interpretation of the theme, or a sketchbook journal of a visual style.

Step 3: Complete the Online Form

At the official submission portal, submit your personal information, contact details and consent from parent/guardian (where applicable) from August 1, 2026.

Step 4: Upload Your Files

Submit your artwork, descriptions and necessary details via the internet. Be sure to read all carefully before submitting.

Step 5: Submit Before the Deadline

Entries need to be submitted by November 1st, 2026. When there are late applications, they are not likely to be considered, so do not wait until the last day to apply.

Katara Teen Art Awards 2026: Important Dates

The submission period will be from August 1st to November 1st, 2026 and the jury will review the submissions in November. The winners will be announced during the Awards Ceremony, 03 December 2026, in Katara Drama Theater, Doha.

The selected works can also be shown in physical exhibitions at Katara Cultural Village, and digital exhibitions, providing a great platform for young artists to showcase themselves internationally.

What Can Winners Expect?

In addition to awards and recognition, selected participants may participate in creative workshops, master classes, mentorship and be introduced and meet with international artists/ curators. They may also be featured in Katara’s cultural platforms, including the news media.

The competition is an ideal chance for teenage participants to develop an artistic portfolio, which combines the ability to be creative with a sense that their work is viewed by an international audience, while introducing them to a worthwhile cultural theme.
