The Cultural Village Foundation Katara will host “The Photography Competition” during the Katara Al-Nahma Art Festival and Award Naham Al Khaleej 2025. This will take place from April 13 to 15, 2025, in the southern area of Katara Beach as part of the festival which recognizes the Gulf region maritime heritage and the art of Al Nahma.
Al Nahma embraces the heartfelt work songs once sung by the pearl divers and fishermen that characterized the dedication and fraternity of seafaring communities. Katara has included a photography competition in an effort to commemorate and highlight this culture in pictures.
The contest is offered to all photographers whether amateur or professional who would like to submit their most stunning photographic images of the liveliness of the festival, the emotional expression of Al Nahma’s performances or the maritime traditions of the Gulf.
Participants should try to align their submissions with a theme embodied in the festival, focusing on aspects such as the emotions on the performers faces, the traditional craftsmanship of the dhows and the beauty of the sea.
Rules and Guidelines of Submission:
Equipment- Only photographs taken with a professional camera are eligible. Images captured via mobile phone or smart device photos will not be accepted.
Number of Images- Each participant can submit up to 10 images.

This project offers photographers a venue to showcase their work but it also serves the important purpose of recognizing and reinterpreting the maritime heritage of the Gulf region for contemporary audiences.
